Betfred Championship Preview | Round 8

Betfred Championship Preview | Round 8

There’s going to be Betfred Championship action under the Friday night lights to kick Round 8 off!

A standout tie between Oldham and Bradford is taking place at Boundary Park - and a bumper crowd anticipated with the Bulls in town.

The Roughyeds are sitting in second spot with Brian Noble's men hot on their heels, but who will claim the two points this upcoming weekend?

The second offering on Friday night sees Sheffield host Batley. Both will be desperate to bounce back from disappointing defeats during the Easter period.

Batley stalwarts Adam Gledhill and Alistair Leak could also reach significant milestones on Friday as they are both on course to make their 250th club appearance.

It was the Bulldogs who completed the double over their opponents last season, but the Eagles, who have endured an uncharacteristic start to 2025, will be determined to avoid another loss.

Craig Lingard’s men are yet to taste a league victory on home soil this year. Will Olympic Legacy Park be celebrating in Round 8?

On Saturday, there’s set to be a fierce encounter when Featherstone welcome Toulouse to the Millenium Stadium.

The French side will be fresh after a week off, whilst Fev came from behind to beat York on Good Friday in emphatic fashion.

It was one a piece in the league last year, but who will go back-to-back in 2025?

Meanwhile, Barrow, who have arguably been one of the surprise packages so far, will be keen to keep up their winning momentum.

The Raiders have enjoyed fine home form in the 2025 competition, winning three out of four Championship matches at the Northern Competitions Stadium.

Their last meeting was a high scoring thriller, with Doncaster clinching a 37-30 win on their home turf last July. In the reverse fixture, they also triumphed 6-38 away in Cumbria.

Barrow have won two more matches than the Dons in 2025, however, so we could be in for a completely different game this time around.

Meanwhile, can Halifax provide an instant response after their first defeat last week?

'Fax have won their last six home meetings with London Broncos and top spot is theirs to lose in Round 8...

Finally, there's another cracker set to take place between Widnes and York on Sunday. The sides currently sit 6th and 7th in table – and the Knights could leapfrog the Vikings with a winning result...
